MAGIS ME TOO

2005, 2009

Villa Julia, Julián and Ladrillos are some of the products that Mariscal has designed for the Me Too collection by Magis.

The dog Julián, one of the characters from Los Garriris, becomes a piece of furniture in this collection, while Villa Julia looks like a figure out of a comic book, with its characteristic black and white colors. On the other hand, Ladrillos is a modular shelf made up of bricks with a simple aesthetic but full of character, thanks to Mariscal's distinctive gestures.

These pieces are part of the exhibition L'Enfance du Design, which is presented at the Pompidou Center, and brings together a selection of original works and furniture objects that explore the close relationship between design and childhood. The Pompidou Center has acquired for its collection several designs by Magis, such as the bookshelf Brick and the dog Julian, as well as prototypes and preparatory drawings from the collection.

The exhibition includes not only these pieces, but also the legacy of the Centre de Création Industrielle, which already in the 1970s reflected on the relationship between childhood and design, through iconic exhibitions such as La ville & l'enfant ( 1977-1978) and Jouets et jeux ( 1979). With the support of the Bonpoint brand, more than half of the exhibited pieces have been acquired, thus extending this reflection on children's design.
