THE GEOGRAPHY OF GRANCELONA

“Barcelona is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and above all, it’s my city. The vitality with which the city embraces me is mutual. Its light, so similar to that of Valencia, fills me with warmth, and its topography fascinates me. I ride through the streets on a Vespa and sketch the city with a pen, graphically capturing the layout of streets and avenues that, like a scalpel, cut through the map and organize it.”

The exhibition presents a contemporary Barcelona that has already grown so large: Grancelona. A city that weaves into its urban fabric areas that have been less visible until now, yet are essential to understanding its role and its energy. On display is a large-scale charcoal drawing created specifically for this space, alongside other drawings made over the years from various vantage points in Barcelona. All of them depict a city so energetic and vibrant that you simply have no choice but to draw it all over again.
