The Ceramics of Manises
Mariscal draws on the ceramic pieces combining classical references with his visual imaginary. "It's like living in the Middle Ages but using contemporary graphic codes." He understands that cobalt blue, combined with golds and coppers, leads you to a baroque, serious, majestic feeling. And he breaks with that solemnity by using other, much more contemporary graphic codes.
The shapes of the pieces give him information on how to approach them, as in the case of the pharmacy jars. He decorates them with circular illustrations, in which the narrative turns the piece around. This type of drawing explains very well the process of manufacture and realization of the piece, in which the turn is intrinsic to the form. They are pieces that seek rotation in order to be seen, also with references to the most primitive animation. It proposes a game of narratives that jumps in time.
